Camelot Isle Shelties is located in Lindale, Texas.
According to myth and history, Camelot is one of the most famous castles and courts of all. Not just a place in King Arthur's realm, Camelot was named for the ideals of justice, bravery, and truth -- the very same virtues embodied by Arthur and his knights. Interestingly enough, Arthurian scholar Norris J. Lacy commented that "Camelot can be anywhere."
At first, "anywhere" was just a dream. 30 years later, Camelot Isle Shelties (owned by me, Janita Jaster) continues its proud tradition of being an all-around kennel. Basically, this means that my Shelties are bred for brains, beauty, structure, and temperament. As such, you will find Camelot Isle Shelties competing and participating in many venues: Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Rally, and Herding, as well as therapy work in hospitals and nursing homes. All breeding stock is tested for potential hip (OFA) and eye (CERF) problems, as well as for von Willebrand disease (vWD), Multi-Drug Sensitivity (MDR1) and thyroid issues. I take my Shelties very seriously, for excellent health and care are top priorities.
In 1979, when I was 16, I received my first Sheltie. At that age, I had no knowledge of the dog world, but that particular Sheltie inspired my love of the breed. Although I gave my first sheltie back to my parents when college rolled around, I later received a puppy back from one of their litters, giving me my start in the performance world. Over time, I have continued to expand my knowledge of the Shetland Sheepdog breed, as well as the many performance venues available. That said, please feel free to browse through the website and get to know the Shelties of Camelot Isle.
